God Knows Your Name
Nov 08, 2024
Scripture Reference: Isaiah 43:1 (NIV) – “But now, this is what the Lord says— he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: ‘Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.’”
Thank you for joining me today. I’m excited to be here, sharing a moment of reflection that I believe will resonate with many of us, especially those who, like me, sometimes find themselves calling out the wrong name when speaking to their children. Maybe it’s because our minds are full, juggling so many things at once, that our words trip over each other. It can be a bit comical, yet frustrating, to realize you’ve just called your child by the dog’s name!
In those moments, I’m reminded of how human we are, prone to errors, forgetfulness, and even confusion. But as we reflect on our imperfections, isn’t it comforting to know that God doesn’t make such mistakes? He knows each of His children by their correct name. Not only does He know our names, but He also knows our hearts, our desires, our struggles, and our needs.
Isaiah 43:1 tells us, “I have summoned you by name; you are mine.” What a powerful reminder that God’s knowledge of us is intimate and intentional. When He calls us, He’s not just uttering a name—He’s speaking into our very being, recognizing us fully for who we are. Unlike us, God doesn’t get confused or distracted. He knows exactly who you are, where you are, and what you need.
As a parent, this gives me such peace. While I may falter and mix things up, God never does. His attention to us is perfect, and His love is personal. Every time He calls us by name, He is affirming our identity in Him and His eternal care for us.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for knowing us so deeply and calling us by name. We are humbled by Your attention to our lives and grateful that You never confuse us with someone else. Help us to trust in Your perfect knowledge of us and to find comfort in knowing that we are fully seen and loved by You. Guide us in our roles as parents, as we strive to reflect Your care and love in our daily interactions with our children. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Action Step:
Take a moment today to speak your child’s name with intention. Let them know how special they are to you, just as God reminds us of our special place in His heart by calling us by name. Consider making a habit of daily affirmations, recognizing each of your children individually for who they are and the unique gifts they bring to your family.
Thank you for spending this time with me today. At Leaders Wellness Suite, we believe in the power of personal connection, both with God and with our loved ones. I hope this reflection helps you to see yourself as God sees you—known, loved, and precious in His sight.
