Exactly What We Needed
Oct 29, 2025
“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus.”
— Philippians 4:19 (NIV)
During my walk on the trail today, I thought about how patient Father God is—waiting for our minds to be renewed so we can see the wealth hidden in the simple and ordinary.
I remembered that season of raising four teens as a single parent in a small town. Between school activities, part-time jobs, and classes—theirs and my own—it often felt grueling. When I compared our lives to those of our neighbors, I thought we lacked so much.
But when I look back now, I see the quiet miracles that carried us. God was shaping endurance, deep faith, and unseen perseverance in all of us. What once felt like lack was actually training for greater things to come.
Today, I see the fruit—seven academic degrees, meaningful work that enriches the lives of others, and hearts anchored in purpose. We had exactly what we needed, and every bit of it was enough.
Prayer:
Father God, thank You for showing me that Your provision is not always wrapped in abundance, but often in lessons that teach us to trust You more. Help me to recognize the miracle in the mundane and to rest in Your timing. Thank You for giving me exactly what I need—no more, no less, but always on time.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
