The Danger of Stagnation
Dec 03, 2024
“See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction.” – Deuteronomy 30:15 (NIV)
Thank you for joining me today! As I reflect on this verse from Deuteronomy, I’m reminded of the choices we face daily. God places before us the opportunity to choose life and growth over stagnation and destruction. It’s not just about survival—it’s about thriving in the purpose He has for us.
Stagnation can feel like a safe place. We grow comfortable, convincing ourselves that staying where we are is better than stepping into the unknown. But in truth, stagnation is dangerous. It keeps us from experiencing the fullness of what God has for us. Just as a stagnant pool of water grows murky and uninhabitable, so does a life that refuses to embrace change and growth.
Growth, on the other hand, is filled with opportunity. It’s not always easy or comfortable, but it’s where we draw closer to God, refine our character, and develop into the people He created us to be. Whether it’s pursuing a dream He’s placed on your heart, forgiving someone who hurt you, or making bold decisions for your family, growth invites God’s blessings into every area of our lives.
So today, I encourage you to ask yourself: Am I choosing life or am I settling for stagnation? God has given us the ability to choose, and with His strength, we can choose the path of life that leads to purpose and prosperity.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for setting before me the opportunity to choose life. Help me to recognize the areas of my life where I’ve grown stagnant. Give me the courage to embrace growth, even when it feels challenging. Guide me to live in obedience to Your will so I can experience the abundance You have planned for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
