Walking in God’s Seasons: From Withering to Glory

resources well being Feb 09, 2025

The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.”– Isaiah 40:8

Walking along the trail today, I noticed how everything follows the rhythm of the seasons. The grass withers, the flowers fade, and the trees stand bare. Nothing resists—there is only harmony. The flowers do not fight the cold; they retract, waiting until the time comes to bloom again.

This week, I left familiar surroundings that led me to retract, much like those flowers drawing inward for a season. It wasn’t easy, but I see now that God was preparing me. And now, as I step into a new environment, I sense His invitation to flourish. He knows the timing of every season in my life, and I don’t want to rush ahead or linger behind—I want to move with Him.

The word “glory” is connected to blossoming and flourishing. When a flower blooms, it reflects the glory of its Creator. But before that moment of beauty, there is a season of retreat—a time of hidden growth, unseen but necessary. That is the pattern God designed, not just for nature but for us. To flourish, we must also know when to withdraw. To blossom, we must allow God to shape us in the unseen places.

Maybe you’re in a season of retreat, feeling stripped of what was once familiar. Or perhaps you’re in a time of blooming, stepping into new opportunities and growth. Whatever the season, know this: God is leading you. When you embrace the season He has placed you in, you are on the path to glory—becoming all He created you to be.

Prayer

Father, You are the author of my seasons. When You call me to step back, help me trust that it is for my good. When You lead me into new territory, give me the courage to bloom. Let my life bring You glory in every season—whether I am hidden in growth or standing in full bloom. Amen.

Faith in Action

What season are you in right now—rest, growth, transition, or waiting?

Ask God to give you peace in the process, whether you’re retracting or blooming.

Meditate on Ecclesiastes 3:1—To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven.
