In Luke 5:3-7, we witness Peter, a seasoned fisherman, toiling through a night of futile fishing. Despite his expertise and efforts, he comes up empty-handed. Can you imagine the frustration and disappointment he must have felt? Perhaps you've experienced a similar sense of frustration in your own life, especially as a divorced parent navigating the challenges of co-parenting and rebuilding a life after divorce.

Peter's story resonates deeply with the journey of divorced parents. Like Peter, you may have poured your heart and soul into your family, only to find yourself grappling with unexpected setbacks and disappointments. I write about my experiences in the book, Triumph After Trauma. The feeling of casting your net time and time again, only to come up empty, can be disheartening. It's in these moments of despair that we may be tempted to give up, to lose hope, and to succumb to the weight of our struggles.

But here's where the beauty of Peter's story unfolds. Despite his frustration and weariness, he encounters Jesus, who invites him to cast his net once more. And when Peter obeys, when he chooses to trust in the words of Jesus, he experiences an abundance beyond his wildest imagination. The nets overflow with fish, a miraculous catch that transforms Peter's despair into joy and wonder.

As divorced parents, it's natural to feel overwhelmed by the challenges that lie before you. The journey may seem daunting, and the road ahead uncertain. But like Peter, you are not alone. In the midst of your struggles, Jesus stands ready to offer you hope and renewal. He invites you to cast your nets once more, to trust in His guidance, and to believe in the promise of a brighter future.

So, to all the divorced parents out there, I encourage you to take heart from the story of Peter. Though the waters may seem rough and the journey long, know that there is hope to be found in the depths. Keep casting your nets, keep trusting in the promise of a new dawn, and remember that with faith, all things are possible.

Thank you for joining me on this journey of reflection and inspiration. May you find courage and comfort in the embrace of divine love, and may you navigate the challenges of divorce with grace and resilience.

Warmest regards,

Coach Christy
